First impressions have always been put on the priority list for individuals who are trying to network and grow their business or personal brand. According to Dictionary.com an impression is “the first and immediate effect of an experience or perception upon the mind; sensation.” Their second definition is that an impression is “a strong effect produced on the intellect, feelings, conscience, etc.” Not learning and improving your first impressions can cause a company or individual to miss out on opportunities, possibly tarnish a reputation, or cause one to become insecure because they are not getting the results that they desire. When developing a business or personal brand, mastering your first impression can have benefits like an increase in customer retention, new job opportunities, and an increase in one’s chances of developing great business and partnership relationships. If you want to master your first impression you have to create an experience based on your self-perception while being conscience of your ability over the effects of others’ feelings and intellect of you.
Although you can’t control what others think of you, you can control how you present yourself. First impressions are more than just elevator pitches and on-camera personals. Not knowing how you want to be perceived, or not caring at all about how you’re represented can have anyone missing out on life-changing opportunities. Opportunities like job positions, brand deals, and record-breaking sales. Being careless about your first impression can also cause some individuals to not be happy with the results of their dating life. Someone might say that they want to meet their future spouse, but if their first impressions on dates aren’t presenting that they will struggle to get the wanted results. Not mastering your first impression can cause an individual to develop a victim mentality. If someone has a limiting belief that people are rude to them, or if they believe that they are shy, they are going to present themselves in a way that brings them results that prove that. Believing that first impressions do not matter is a limiting belief within itself.

My first impression isn’t perfect but it has improved and I have seen improvement in my career, love, and overall self-confidence.
